WHEN IS THE MEDITERRANEAN YACHTING SEASON?

The Mediterranean season began in May with its statement start for the Monaco Grand Prix and Cannes Film Festival.

Time has flown by and we’re sorry we went away for a little bit but now we are back. It has been a very busy and successful time for Honest Marine Services since you last heard from us. With numerous charters and deliveries already this season, our crew have been doing a fantastic job onboard. On the other hand, the girls in the office have been securing berths, arranging car transfers and restaurant bookings for yacht charter guests. We also have the advantage over many yacht and boat owners due to the fact that as a company who deals with suppliers on a daily basis, we know who to contact for your last minute assistance.

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR HMS DURING THE MED YACHTING SEASON?

The Mediterranean yachting season is bizarre – many companies close for holidays because they are mostly required during winter. HMS know that it is tricky getting in touch with French companies on the French Riviera for mid-season emergencies because work is so seasonal. Nevertheless, Honest Marine Services have great relations with suppliers across the Riviera. Some even chomp into their holidays for us (Quelart, thank you!)

One thing that is always challenging is securing berths. There is so much competition to be amongst the glitz and glamour of the Côte d’Azur that it is quite the challenge getting berths in the most popular ports. Feel free to consult our guides to French Riviera ports (Monaco-Antibes) and (Antibes-St Tropez).
That being said, we have pride in the fact that we have secured nearly every requested berth for our charter guests this Summer thus far (touch wood). We manage to do this because we take the time to develop strong relationships with the ports and to keep on top of them for you.

WHAT IS HMS’ FAVOURITE ASPECT OF THE MED YACHTING SEASON?

There is so much going on that actually it is hard to choose. Besides, we wouldn’t be in the industry if we didn’t love it.
It is exciting, there is no day the same and things are always moving. Be it, setting itineraries to ensure that guests do not miss out on the fantastic International Fireworks Competition in Cannes, or meeting and greeting new charter clients onboard upon arrival. But of course, one of the best things in when your charter guests and owners are happy! A smiling face goes such a long way.

HOW DOES HMS ORGANISE THEIR TIME TO ENSURE THE BEST STANDARDS ACROSS ALL THEIR SERVICES?

We have recently added to our team, so we aren’t too thinly spread and no stone is left unturned. With three girls in the office, each handling different aspects including: Yacht  and Charter management, Supplier liaisons, Marketing and Accounting. Additionally, on the crew side we have 3 captains, 1 bosun, 2 stewardess/cooks and a number of deckhands that we work with, along with our fabulous land-based stewardess. It is all thanks to a fabulous team that we can deliver the best service to our clients during these busy months.

IS HMS INVOLVED WITH THE CARIBBEAN SEASON?

For now, HMS isn’t involved with the Caribbean Season which begins in September/October and ends in April/May as our team is based in the South of France and we are needed for boat maintenance, wash downs and administrative services during the Winter for our boats which stay here in France. But who knows what the future holds…

WHAT ARE HMS’ HOPES FOR THE END OF SEASON?

Of course, our number one priority is to ensure that our owners are happy and their boats have been well-maintained during the season. Additionally, we are looking to get involved with companies who will be attending the Cannes and Monaco Yacht shows this year. More about this in our upcoming posts…

Honest Marine Services are looking forward to the upcoming charters before the end of season.  We also have availability during the yacht shows. If you need pre-opening wash downs, get in touch with the office, we would be delighted to assist you.
